Keiko is a sweet, mellow girl who is ready to find her forever home so she can cuddle up with her family.
This gorgeous brindle girl came to FBRN after her former owner enlisted for military service after completing college. We promised we’d look after this sweetheart until the timing was right to find her a new home.
Keiko is allergic to chicken and generally seems to do best on a grain-free diet. Her family must be willing to continue feeding her a high quality, grain-free diet to help keep the itchies at bay.
At only 6 years old, Keiko is a nearly perfect dog. She’s gets along with the resident dogs and cats in her foster homes. She loves to cuddle and nap, but is more than willing to get pulled into a quick game of chase. After a quick spin or two around the living room or yard, she’s once again ready to find a comfy spot to watch the action continue. Her current doggy playmates include male mini doxies and female Dobermans, so she seems to do well with friendly dogs of across the size and gender spectrum.
Keiko also loves well-behaved children. She has been around children as young as 8 years old, and likes their company as long they’re kind and respectful.
For fun, she is pretty happy to snuggle and maybe chew a Nylabone. A leisurely stroll down the street and back a few times a day seems to be plenty for her in terms of exercise. She knows the commands sit and come, and might be open to learning a few more basic training skills.
Though she is mostly housebroken, she will still sometimes have the occasional accident. A consistent feeding and outing schedule will be absolutely necessary to help her succeed as she transitions to her new home. She’s crate-trained, but at night she might complain a little. However, if she’s worn out from the day’s activities she’ll march herself right into her crate and snooze instantly.
This frog girl has such an easygoing personality that she would adapt to most living environments as long as there’s plenty of love in the home. Apartment or single family home would suit her just as well, as she’s not much of a barker.
She would make a great dog to take to work as she is friendly, yet not overly active and would allow her people to settle into work. If she must stay at home, she’d be fine as long as she has a doggy friend and a midday potty break.
Here’s a quick word from her foster mom:
Keiko is a very sweet girl who just wants to be loved. She will sit herself down on your lap facing you and slowly work her way up your chest so that she is lying with her head resting on your shoulder like a baby. I think she would sleep for hours like this if her person would let her. She gets along great with my other two dogs and would make a great companion for humans and canine alike.
In short, this easygoing girl will easily adapt to a home where she’s considered part of the family and is allotted plenty of cuddle time.
If you think Keiko sounds like the right girl for you, please submit an application. She’ll be waiting patiently in her Washington foster home.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
