PLEASE READ PUPPY MILL ARTICLE before applying for Kasa.
Kasa's bio has been updated 10/27 to reflect improvement in her housebreaking!
After getting a clean bill of health, Kasa has been spayed so her breeding days are officially over! In general, Kasa is a healthy frog, but will need to be maintained on a prescription diet to prevent the recurrence of bladder stones. She also needs to have her ears cleaned regularly so she won't get the itchies. Some recent spinal pain resulting in X-rays showed her to have a few prolapsed (as well as calcified) discs. Kasa’s forever home should understand that she does have areas of weakness in her back, and that there is the potential for her to rupture another disc in the future.
After getting a clean bill of health, Kasa has now been spayed so her breeding days are officially over. In general, Kasa is a healthy frog, but will need to stick with a grain-free diet and have her ears cleaned regularly because she can get a few itchies every now and then. Some recent spinal pain resulting in X-rays showed her to have a few prolapsed as well as calcified discs. Kasa’s forever home should understand that she does have areas of weakness in her back and that there is the potential for her to rupture another disc in the future.
Prior to coming into her foster home, Kasa had never been around children. She is very sweet-natured so we think she would be fine in a home with dog savvy, quiet children ages five and older. In a people filled room, Kasa will seek out the children immediately and sit patiently at their feet as a means of asking for pets. She seems to be drawn to calm, respectful young’uns and we think she may enjoy a loving, happy child or two in her forever home.
Kasa has loved every dog she's met so far and she doesn't discriminate, she gets along with dogs of all sizes and genders! She's not really into playing with them much yet – her attention is more focused on her people. Kasa is also great with the cat in her foster home; she barely even notices the kitty.
Kasa is very sweet and happy, but also very busy. She doesn't get herself into too much trouble, she is just very curious. She does get excited and run about at times but isn't real high energy. She is more submissive and happy to be a follower rather than a leader.
Like many frogs, Kasa doesn't like going out to potty in inclement weather! Kasa will go to the door to signal that she needs to potty, but she doesn't make a sound so her forever family will need to pay close attention. However, if her forever family has a doggy door, all the better! With a dog door, Kasa seems to enjoy the ability to make the decision when she needs to go out and it is helping significantly with her zero accident rate. Kasa is great about going into her crate, she runs right in, waits for her treat and doesn't make a peep, she just settles right in.
Kasa would be fine with a first time Frenchie owner, as long as they understand her needs. She likes other dogs and would do well in a home with other dogs but she doesn't need to have another dog around. She's not super high energy but she does like to go out frequently and really enjoys the outdoors so if there wasn't a fenced in yard her family would need to take her out for walks and trips to the park frequently. Kasa doesn't need someone home with her all day and does well with her current foster mom's full-time work schedule. We think Kasa could make a great office companion since she is quiet and loves everyone she meets. A one level home with no stairs is preferable in order to keep unnecessary strain off of Kasa’s spine, however, we think she will be fine in a home with moderate stair access.
Here is a word from Kasa's foster mom, "Kasa is a real lover. In the morning when I let her out of her crate she has a little stretch routine she has to go through, then she comes to me for a little good morning greeting and then she's ready to go potty. She often just sits at my feet wanting to be petted, I may be spoiling her a bit much because now she'll occasionally paw or stand up on my legs to get attention. A few times a day she'll get a burst of crazy and run about; it's very cute! She also enjoys rolling around on her back on the dog beds and carpet.
She has made a great transition and is an easy, easy keeper. She's sweet as pie and has been a wonderful addition to our family. She has huge brown eyes, the cutest ears and tiny bottom teeth that stick out a bit and look like little white chicklets. She's mastered the dog door and we're working on some basic obedience. She loves kids, cats and dogs. What's not to love?!
If you think Kasa is the perfect girl for you, then please apply for her today. Like all FBRN dogs, Kasa will not be shipped so be ready for a trip to Kansas to pick up this sweet little Frenchie princess.
