We adore this little Junebug! A Good Samaritan bought her and turned over to FBRN to save her from a life of cranking out more babies. When we got our hands on her, she’d recently had a litter and was in pitiful condition. Her coat was dry, brittle and filthy and was patchy. Her skin was dry and flaky. Her nails were too long. She’d had a chronic ear infection and was in a general state of neglect. Better than some dogs we’ve seen from backyard or puppy mill breeders, worse than others.

Since her arrival, she’s been treated for her ear infections and she’s all better. Her skin and coat are lovely, thanks to a decent diet and medicated baths. She has some allergy issues, like many frog-dogs, so she eats a grain-free, chicken-free food and takes antihistamines when there’s a flare-up. Her family must be diligent about watching her ears for future infections and her skin for any signs of an allergy attack.

Junebug hasn’t met any children, but judging from her attitude toward people, we think kids over 5 who can understand her background would be ok.

Junebug loves to play with her Frenchie foster siblings and snuggles with them. We don’t know how she would do with larger or smaller dogs, but 20-45 lbs would be ok! She’s very smart, and could excel in obedience. She is crate-trained and housetrained. She has left kitties alone at her temporary foster home, so we think she’d be ok with them.

JB is happy to do what you want to do. Play catch? Sure. Sunday afternoon snooze? Shove over. All she really wants to dooooo, is baby, be friends with you!

Junebug needs a fence because she likes to chase things. She escaped from her foster mom and took off like a bug out of hell after a deer. If you want to walk her, which she’d love, you should be sturdy enough to withstand a serious, no-kidding, low center of gravity, holy cow yank if Juney gives chase. You can’t send your 10 year-old out with her as a lesson in responsibility. She needs some weight and muscle and good reflexes on the end of her lead.

Junebug’s foster mom would look favorably on a family with children and/or another dog to keep JB company. We really like a work from home or take to work owner for these dogs who’ve been neglected so long, but if you can get home from work or send a walker at lunchtime, please don’t hesitate to apply. She’d be a great receptionist or co-worker as soon as you can train her not to jump up and shred women’s hose.

Her foster mom thinks the world of Junebug. Here’s what she has to say: I just love this little girl; she is such a gem! You will never find a more wonderful dog, perfect in almost every way. She absolutely adores people and wants to follow you wherever you go and be with you always. She is such a lively and bubbly little dog. She will throw a toy up in the air to engage you in playing with her, wiggling her cute little tail, and she loves, loves, loves her Nylabones! She gets along great with my dogs and shows no signs of aggression, not even with her food. She is crate-trained, housebroken and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She doesn't chew on anything in the house, doesn't jump on furniture, nor is she destructive in any way. In her exuberance, she likes to jump on you, but we are working on our manners, and she is very responsive to correction and eager to please. She is really very well behaved. She is cooperative with whatever needs to be done to her: Bathing is a breeze, she takes her meds great with a little piece of cheese, and she holds perfectly still when I trim her nails, clean her ears, or wipe her paws after coming in from the rain. She is not fearful of loud noises or anything else. She just seems to be so grateful to have been given a second chance to be loved and cared for, as she deserves. She is so sweet and good-natured for a little girl that has been so neglected; she still has such a spirit of love for those around her. What more could you ask for in a dog? She is the whole package, and whoever adopts her will be blessed by her love and devotion to them.

Practically perfect Junebug is waiting for you in Texas. Saddle up and swing by to fetch her, because we don’t ship our frogs.
