Hingham was surrendered when his loving family feared for his safety around their very jealous American bulldog. Hingham's puppy energy was too much for their American bulldog, so they decided to rehome Hingham in a family where he could be his puppy self.

Hingham enjoys kids, but he plays rough. We think he'd do best in a home where kids are old enough to be able to participate in his training and to withstand his goofball antics. Hingham will chase kitties, but his foster mom says he won't hurt them. If you have a dog-savvy cat who will stand his ground and not run--or not mind being chased--Hingham could work for you. Hingham loves all other dogs, large and small, especially the kind who like to play! Friendly dogs only need apply.

Hingham is housetrained, but he's like a two year-old kid. He understands the concept, but if he's doing something more interesting, he'll forget to tell you he needs to potty out. It's up to you to remember that he needs a schedule and to keep him on it.

Hingham hates the crate. He loudly hates the crate, and he pees in it, just to emphasize the point--he hates the crate.

Though Hingham hasn't had formal obedience training, he knows basic commands and walks well on the leash.

Hingham doesn't have any temperament issues. He has a few bad habits, like trying to worm his way to the head of the line when tummy rubs are given out, and he will steal toys and run around with them, teasing the other dogs, but he has a good heart, and he's really just a silly loon.

Here's what we want for Hingham: A single person or a family who can give him lots of attention and exercise and stimulation. Another dog would be great! Because he's so active and mischievous, he shouldn't be left alone for long hours--that's a recipe for trouble. We'll give preference to a family with a staggered work schedule or someone who is home most of the day, though he might be a good go to work dog if you can schedule play breaks. Older kids--10 and up--who will give him love and attention would be wonderful. He's too rambunctious for an apartment, we think, so we'll give preference to a home with a yard.

Here's what his foster mom said about Hingham:

"Hingham has been sharing his foster home with 6 other dogs...and has not had any issues with any of them. He loves to go for car rides and is thrilled to meet new people and showers them with kisses. He has more energy than the Energizer bunny, but he is much cuter. He sleeps in bed next to his foster mom and loves to cuddle. He has had his nares opened so his breathing is much improved, although he still has a slight Frenchie snore. He is good about having his monthly spa day, which includes manicure, bath, ears and face cleaning. He does wiggle a lot but enjoys the attention. He will need someone who will take the time to reinforce his housebreaking and continue to teach him to be a well behaved Frenchie. If allowed to, he will take charge and get himself into trouble. He is sweet and loving and would like to be loved and cared for in return. Hingham would be a wonderful member to the right family...could that be your family?"
