Hero worshippers start your engines. Hero the super frog is available for adoption! Hero is a great big Frenchie (just a hair under 40 pounds!) who was purchased by a young person with the intent to re-sell. When Hero didn’t fly off the shelf, FBRN took him in and promised to find him a proper home with no sales pitch.

Hero really is a miracle boy. He had a spine problem earlier in his life that left him paralyzed for a time. Fortunately, he healed up beautifully except for a very minor dribble of urine (easy to completely eliminate with the use of a pupster garment – which is like a belt. We’ll send him home with one.) He still has a little wobble in his hind legs but is active and playful. Activity is GOOD for Hero. He needs exercise to keep up the strength in his legs. There are a few “no-nos” for him. No stairs, no jumping on furniture or people. You get the picture. Build his strength but protect that back! He needs a raised food and water bowl (we’ll send those along, too.)

Hero doesn’t know he has any special needs, of course, and he just bumps along like a regular Joe. “ No special requirements for me, people,” he seems to say, “I’m just an ordinary superhero, doing my job.” He does well with older kids but hasn’t spent time with the very young set. We think he would do best with kids over 10 who will be mindful of his back. He ignores or plays with cats, depending on their preferences, and he gets along with dogs his size or larger.

This is a dog without an ounce of entitlement about him. Hero has a very no frills and low-maintenance personality. He doesn’t give a hoot about toys, doesn’t do tricks and doesn’t make a lot of noise. He’s not a food nut and he submits to regular baths, nail trimmings and face washings with no fuss at all. Hero is a class act. Hero is housebroken except for his minor dribble issue (which gets VERY minor once a break routine is established) and crate trained.

So what is Hero passionate about? His family. He loves his family passionately and unselfishly. He loves to run, cuddle, and shadow his people around during day to day activities. He likes to goof around in a back yard, so if you have a fenced one, all the better. A person home all day would be awesome, of course, but not necessary. And Hero would make a great take to work dog, too, as he is quiet, a people lover, and non-fussy.

Hero’s people need to be aware of his health issues and take time to exercise him daily to build strength (it’s good for the people, too!) It’s possible that Hero could have back issues in the future and must be prepared to deal with the realities and costs should this occur. First time Frenchie owners are welcome, but should be experienced with dogs in general, and be as realistic and no-fuss as Hero.

A few words from Hero’s foster mom:

“Hero has a courageous heart. He has suffered serious health issues and still has a slight wobble. Despite these challenges, he loves to romp and enthusiastically bounds up to anyone willing to show some admiration for this gentle giant. He is completely unaware that he has any health issues and needs someone who is able to look after him as a guardian angel. He will reward this person with many kisses, loyal companionship and limitless love. The right person will be very lucky to have such a spirited and fun-loving companion. “

If you have a hero sized heart for a hero sized dog, apply for Hero straight away. And plan to travel to Southeastern PA if you want to take him home. His cape is at the cleaners, and without it Hero can’t fly.
