Though Gibson looks like one of those handsome punk rock bad boys, he’s nothing but an insecure momma’s boy looking for some structure, guidance, and lots of love.
This boy was surrendered when his former owner could no longer take care of him.
Gibson appears to be mostly in good health. He has the beginnings of cataracts, but it does not seem to affect his vision. He also has a broken tooth that may need to be dealt with at some point in the future.
This bat-eared boy has the energy of a Jack Russell; he loves his walks and never seems to tire. He's also happy to hang out on the couch with the people. He's very smart and knows the basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down.
Gibson is not good with other dogs. He's very reactive toward other dogs and should be an only dog.
As you might expect, this smart boy is completely housebroken. He’s also crate trained, but can sometimes let himself out of the crate he has now.
The only thing Gibson loves as much as spending his time with people, is playing with toys! He loves balls, squeakies, stuffies and anything that resembles a toy. He loves them so much that he will sometimes guard them. He has also shown a bit of guarding behavior about his person, and has lunged (but not made a connection) when people have made sudden movements toward her. We want to emphasize that Gibson is a sweet boy who adores his people, but needs to live with a confident owner. This guarding behavior cannot be tolerated, and a firm but gentle leader will be important to keep Gibson from becoming a little dictator.
Gibson is nervous around children and will not be placed in a home that includes little ones.
Apartment, house, or condo would all work for this boy as long as he gets a chance to go out for nice walks. He would only be a good candidate for a take to work situation if the workplace is a fairly low key place without tons of activity going on. Otherwise, he’ll happily wait at home as long as he can get a midday visit.
Gibson hopes to find a home with someone who can providence guidance for good doggie behavior, and who enjoys many cuddling opportunities throughout the day. He’s willing to work for a treat or two during the day and will always gently take his reward for a job well done. He would be very happy with opportunities to exercise his brain.
If people describe your style as firm, fair, and loving, please submit an application for Gibson. He’ll be enjoying walks in the southwest area of British Columbia near his foster home, but will be ready to pack his bags when the right home comes along.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
