Frisco's former owners left him to be euthanized in a San Francisco shelter because of aggression with the other dogs in their household. Fortunately an employee there pulled him and called FBRN. Whew!
Shiny, with a seal-like black coat, Frisco is as healthy as a horse. A great lover of humankind, he has never met a person he didn't like (and wasn't willing to bowl over in his puppy exuberance.) Any children in his forever home should be old enough to hold their own - say eight years or better.
He does not like cats. Don't even go there.
Though Frisco's dog aggression appears to be of the 'pick and choose' variety, we are going to suggest that he be an only dog. He has played wildly with some dogs, but has had some fights, too. As he grows up he could become even more choosy about his friends. We would be most comfortable placing him as an "only".
Frisco is happiest when he is flying around the back yard, chasing a ball, rolling in the grass and sniffing the local flora. He's a puppy and the world is his oyster. It's a joy to behold. And speaking of joy, Frisco is housetrained and crate-trained! (The news just gets better and better!) He knows "sit" and "stay", but he's a little wobbly on those if he'd rather be doing something else. Frisco could use more obedience training and leash work. He pulls, but it falls short of the "dragging" category.
Frisco has not shown any agression with people at all. In his foster home he is fed in his crate, and is not protective of his food dish there.
Frisco is a young Frenchie athlete who loves to play fetch. Still in the little leagues, he zooms to get the ball and return it, but hasn't quite figured out that you have to give it back to the pitcher. He also likes to chew on sticks and on peanut butter filled Kongs. Mmmmmmm, just the thing for a quiet evening after a boisterous day of play.
Frisco is not a layabout kind of a Frenchie. He likes action, and his ideal home would have plenty of it. He loves to ride in the car. He loves to go for walks and has the energy and breathing ability to go for long ones. A lover of hikes (in cool weather) would make a great forever pal for Frisco. He is fine being crated for reasonably long periods of time, but has high energy levels and would probably not be a good candidate to go to work with his human - unless it was to ride around in a work truck or something similar. (Once he's older he might settle down enough to be a good office dog, but right now he's just too excited to let anybody get much done.)
Because he's good in his crate, a person working outside the home and giving him a mid-day break would be fine, as long as he gets enough play time outside of working hours.
A house, a condo or a townhome would be fine for Frisco. A yard with a good tall fence would be wonderful - he can and will jump a low fence! Because he is iffy with other dogs, a dog park situation would not be the best. It would be great if he had a place to play fetch alone with his humans, but if that's not available, then he's happy to walk, walk walk!
Frisco is a strong dog with a dominant personality. The kid needs limits! Frisco's ideal owner would be a strong leader. He would be fine with a "first Frenchie" owner, as long as he wasn't their first dog. He needs guidance and consistent training. Older dog-savvy kids would be fine. He’s a pretty low maintenance guy. Frisco is a smart Frenchie, and he really loves people. He's filled with joie de vivre! Frisco would love nothing more than to spend time with his humans doing whatever they wanted to do (as long as he could run the occasional circle around them!)
If a shiny seal of a Frenchie pup appeals to your sense of adventure and fun, please consider applying for Frisco. While you're at it, pack your sunglasses and sunscreen. Frisco has it made in the shade in Phoenix, Arizona, and he will not be shipped!
