We find many of our supporters and volunteers say that Frenchies are just like potato chips, you can’t have only one. Enter Frankie and Dooley who are ready to find their forever home, and offer to bring twice the antics and fun to one home that has lots of love to give!
Frankie (female) and Dooley (male) were surrendered when their former owner could no longer care for them.
These two are mostly healthy dogs, but they each come with one issue that will require ongoing care. Dooley seems to have food allergies, and may need ongoing food trial periods to determine which food suits him best. Frankie has a flap near her vulva that will need to be wiped down daily to ensure that she remains healthy and free of infections. Aside from this, the two are just your typical Frenchies, ready for action when appropriate, but masters of cuddling as well.
At four years old, Frankie still has a lot of puppy-like energy. She loves chewing on toys and tearing around the house. At five, Dooley for the most part prefers loafing around the house, but enjoys going on a walk every now and then. Their future owner will need to continue working on their leash manners, as they still tend to pull. However, their foster home reports the pair have a solid foundation in basic obedience.
Both dogs are dog friendly, and while Frankie would love to have yet another playmate, Dooley would be fine with or without additional canine friends. The two are mostly housebroken, but keeping them on a strict schedule will help set them up for success in their new home. They are also crate-trained and do just fine sharing a crate, or being crated separately. While they have great temperaments, they both tend to display resource guarding around food, so they should be fed separately so everyone keeps a respectful distance from the other’s bowl to maintain a stress-free environment at mealtimes.
Ideally, we would like to see this pair join a family that includes an adult who works part-time or two adults with alternating work schedules. Frankie and Dooley love people and are very dog-friendly, so they could adjust to going to work with their owner if the situation allows for that. However, someone who works full-time outside the home, but can let the dogs out for a midday break would work as well. It would also be great if the family includes some kids aged 5 or older who could pitch in with some quality cuddling. A fenced yard is preferred, though not required.
Here’s a note from their foster mom:
"Frankie and Dooley are loveable frogs that just want to be near you and be loved. They have very different personalities; Dooley being the “man dog”, good for lying on a sofa and watching the football game; Frankie being the “woman dog”, loves to be out and going to the store and meeting people. Both dogs love my son, and Frankie always wants to be near him. Dooley wants to be with the adults most of the time and is not as playful with the other dogs as Frankie. Both are extremely comical and loving, and I will miss them very much."
If you would love the benefit of adopting two dog-friendly, people loving dogs with only one application, here’s your chance! You must be willing to pick them up in North Carolina because they will not be shipped.
