Spring has sprung, the grass has risen, and Finch is ready to fly! Finch was originally surrendered when his owner moved, and has spent his time in foster care getting lots of attention. This healthy, high-energy boy is now looking for an active forever home to play with him and keep him in line.

Finch gets along with people including children, but his husky size and bouncy play would be too much for little ones. We’ll consider families with children over 8 years old who can withstand sloppy kisses, zoomie runs and general rough-housing. He loves to run thru the house chasing whoever wants to run. Finch can get wound up enough to “play nip” so his people need to be able to read his signs and give him a time out when things get too rough. He needs his exercise to be happy so we prefer a fenced yard, but a person with a plan to keep him active without one might work.

Finch gets along with submissive dogs. He has been fed separately at his foster home so his forever family may need to keep up this practice. Finch is toy aggressive (“Mine! Mine!” he says!) and does not like to share his play things. We’re not sure about Finch with cats, so for kitty’s safety, we’ll say no cats for Finch.

Health wise, Finch is fine. He’ll do well on any high quality dog food. We must, for his safety, say no to rawhides as he is the type who tries to swallow them whole, no matter what the size! He loves any chew toy though, so this should not pose a problem. He is housebroken and crate trained, but does not have any obedience training other than “sit”. As with all Frenchies, he must be watched for signs of overheating, especially when he is playing hard.

Finch can’t be left for hours at a time but there are lots of solutions that would work for him. He could be an office dog if there was a way to get some mid-day exercise. A stay at home person would be lovely, but a mid-day visit from a dogwalker willing to exercise and play with him would be fine.

His foster mom says “He would be good for a single person with no other pets and plenty of time to take him on walks or to the park. It wouldn't be good for him to be alone too much. I believe he used to be an "only" dog so he gets a little jealous if other dogs seem to be getting too much attention. He plays fetch and loves to get belly and back massages.

Finch is a mini-truck who can flatten you if you're not paying attention when he runs up behind you. He would be happy only with people who would make him NO.1 in their lives and take him everywhere. He is a loyal, loving, and protective animal (at least he thinks he's being protective with his fierce bark!) With his high energy level, one never feels alone in the house.”

If you are chosen to keep up with Finch, you’ll need to make plans for picking him up in Ohio as he will not be shipped.
