Emmylou was at one time a very bad Frenchie. She and her sister egged each other on and killed a resident kitty cat, injured several others and had a reputation for killing furry wildlife in the yard as well. The two have been separated and we are hoping to find Emmylou the perfect forever family who truly understands her extremely high prey drive and will work with these limitations.

Emmylou is doing just all right with the resident dogs in her foster home, but the perfect home might be one where Emmy is the only Frenchie child. There have been some signs of both fear and food aggression towards other dogs. An acceptable dog friend would be one of her size or slightly larger and very laid-back. Being the only dog lavished with love and attention is probably the best scenario for this creampuff.

Emmylou is a people-dog; she simply loves her family. Her favorite evening includes an invitation for sofa time, popcorn and a movie followed by sleeping in the people bed. No doggy bed on the floor, please; she likes to snuggle under the covers. She will occasionally play and chase a doggy friend and even snuggle with them, but she shows a possessive side toward her humans and certain toys. She doesn't display aggression over her food bowl or water dish.

Emmylou is housetrained, but she is currently learning the concept of a doggy door. She can wait a period of time to be let out, then quickly addresses her business and returns via the doggy door. She doesn't yet seem to understand the concept that the door swings both ways.

She displays no destructive behavior in the house. Though not formally obedience trained, she responds very nicely to verbal corrections. She'd benefit from attending obedience class.

Even with a few character flaws, Emmylou has a special charm and charisma. She loves the camera and being photographed, car rides and leash walks. This girl generally loves life and especially her humans.

The ideal home for Emmylou would include kids, but because of her obsession with people food, if there's another dog, only older children will be considered. If Emmylou were the only dog then any age child would be fine.

Our preference would include a full time at home person or someone working only part time. A noontime walk with a petsitter or dog walker would be acceptable, but not ideal for Emmylou. She is hoping for a family where she could be part of the activity all day long, trips in the car, running errands, picking the kids up at school. She'd be a good working girl--she could visit with the employees, snooze under your desk, enjoy the car ride to and from work and have a leash walk all within an eight hour period. All her favorite things checked off your to do list, and you'd have one happy Frenchie.

Emmylou would love for her forever family to have a house with a fenced yard. Emmy likes being off leash for tinkle and potty time and having a little privacy. She also bolts for the door when opened, so it may be the safest scenario for her. She has quickly become a huge part of the lives of her foster family and the following are thoughts and feelings they have shared:

"Emmylou is such a fun-loving Frenchie! She makes me laugh all of the time! I love the way she sits with her back two legs sticking way out and the two fronts tucked in between. She sits and acts like a human at times and she is so funny! She loves to give very gentle kisses and soaks up every bit of love she can get. She will come to you and just plop over for a belly rub. No shame in asking, she says! She has a gorgeous soft coat, so petting her is a real pleasure. She doesn't even have smelly breath!

I love to snuggle with her as she will sleep right on you and gets closer and closer as the minutes tick by. Next thing I know, she is sleeping on my chest with her head tucked under my chin ! She is very hard to resist and I find no reason to ever do so! I love this girl so much and every day with her is a fulfilling one. She is young and full of life and health and knows when it is play time and when it is rest time. She is very intelligent and corrects very easily. She is going to make someone very happy for many years to come, as she is not even 4 years old. I want to find someone for her that appreciates her even half as much as I do, and she will give their love back tenfold! I am going to miss this girl, that is for sure!"
