"All for one and one for all." Alexandre Dumas

Dumas is looking for a forever family for whom he can be their "One." Dumas is a 9-year-old neutered male who loves his people and would love to play Musketeers all day long with his new family.

Dumas came to FBRN when the toddler in the home fell on him. He snapped at the child but did not break the skin. He has since shown no signs of aggression with children and has been with kids as young as 7 years. He has appreciated the second chance with FBRN and has behaved like a gentleman. However, we will not place him in a home with children or where children will be frequent visitors. Dumas--and this goes for all dogs--must never be left unattended with a young child.

Dumas loves to cuddle with his people and is a couch potato at heart. He loves to snuggle and watch TV on the couch. He is used to being the Lead Musketeer in his former life and is learning that he does not have to assume that role any longer. He will need a family who will continue to remind him that he does not have to be in charge and all he needs to do is be a dog. He is a healthy guy with some minor allergies. He takes Benadryl as needed and has some prescription medications as well. His forever family will have to monitor his allergies and treat as necessary. He has a history of bladder stones, which have not been a problem as he remains on his special diet.

Dumas lives with several other dogs in his foster home and can be very dominant when first introduced. However, he did settle down and now can live amicably with them. We think he would prefer that his family be comprised of humans, though. He prefers to spend his time with people. He has not lived with cats, so we don't know how he will react to them. Dumas is housebroken and crate trained, however he hates his crate. He would benefit from obedience training, especially when it comes to his daily walks. He does pull on lead quite a bit, and while his foster mom is working with him, he remains a work in progress. Dumas could live in either an apartment or house; a fenced in yard is not required. He goes to the office with his foster mom now, and as long as he can be with her, he is quite happy. Besides his people, his other favorite things are to cuddle, go for car rides and walks. He is an easy frog to keep happy!

His foster mom has this to say: "Dumas is about as easy a Frenchie as I have had. He is very low key, very well behaved and loves his people with all his little heart. His allergies have not presented a problem. He has chlorahex washes for face and bath time, and takes Benadryl daily. He is on a special food (science diet) for a past bladder stone problem. He has come to work with me 6 days a week since I got him. Everyone loves him and it is very mutual. He was someone's very special baby for 8 years. They were heartbroken to have to give him up. That's how I would like for him to be treated in his new home, like a member of the family, a very loved small child."

"All human wisdom is summed up in two words; wait and hope." (Alexandre Dumas)

Dumas is certainly waiting for his forever family and hoping they find him soon. He is looking for a family to cherish and love him, making him their third Musketeer. Should you take him into your heart, Dumas will repay you tenfold with loyalty and love. Dumas is enjoying summer in Florida. Plan on picking him up in person and reading the Three Musketeers together on the way home.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
