Here's little Dudley-Do-Right, accredited member of the AARF (American Association of Retired Frogs). Young at heart and full of life, ten-year-old Dudley is ready to find a dream retirement home to live out his golden years. He was surrendered to FBRN by his loving family when a change in circumstances meant they could no longer keep him.

With his cute, pink pokey-outy tongue, this dapper brindle senior has everyone smiling. A big lover, Dudley adores kids, cats, walks, car rides and frogs. Yes, he loves to stalk frogs- the real ones! He doesn't care to share the love with other dogs, though, so he should be an only boy. He also enjoys walks on a leash and rides in the car. While not one for formal obedience, he is laid-back and well-behaved on the whole. Recently, however, he has taken to protecting the kitchen. Even when there is no food being prepared. He is guarding the space in which food may at any magical moment appear. That's got to stop, so he'll need someone who is accustomed to being the boss and who can impress upon young Dudley that the kitchen is open to EVERYONE.

Like many older dogs, Dudley has some personality quirks that are as deeply ingrained as his wrinkles. He is a little dominant with smaller dogs and is definitely possessive of his food area. He is also protective of the person he has bonded to most strongly, and will try to intimidate other dogs away from them if he's being held or loved. That being said, he is not aggressive and settles down quickly.

Dudley's former family crated him for long periods during the day, and he developed serious anxiety when crated as a result. He would tear up his crate (damaging his teeth in the process) and vomit, even when left for only short periods. Since taking the crate away, Dudley has been much more relaxed, however his housebreaking has slipped. He has accidents daily whether someone is home or not. The only other flaw in Mr. Dudley's manners is that he is a bolter, and is hard of hearing to boot, so he must have a fenced yard.

Fit and trim, Dudley just needs routine medical care to prepare him for his future. He doesn't need owners with any particular Frenchie experience, but he does need someone who has dealt with dogs with quirky behaviors and personalities before and who knows how to care for an elderly dog. Dudley also absolutely must have a stay at home parent or a situation where one family member is home virtually all the time. Alternatively, he'd likely enjoy going to an office with someone.

His foster mom has this to add:

"Dudley is a friendly, laid-back old man. He requires lots of love and attention, and must sleep in your bed at night. He loves to perch himself at the window in the car and go for a drive. He takes the kids to school almost every morning. On any given day, he loves to go for a walk, but make sure he is on a leash as he will run for the hills and he can't hear for you to call him back.

As he was left crated for very long periods of time with a bone or something to chew on for boredom, his teeth are very worn down and you must be careful what you feed him.

He is a special old man and just wants to be a part of a loving forever family."

If you are that family, bring your wide open arms and hearts down to North Carolina. That's where Dudley has been resting his head lately, and he will not be shipped.
