Diesel Truck has moved full steam ahead to the Available page! At one year old, Diesel Truck loves to eat, play with other dogs and people, lay in the sun in the yard, sniff everything in sight, chew bones and stop mid-sentence for a nap. He also loooves his belly rubs and getting scratched behind his ears. Diesel Truck has lots of energy—there’s so much to see and do in a puppy’s world!—but he is not the overly excited type.

Diesel Truck was surrendered because he took a strong dislike to the four month-old English Bulldog puppy in his former home, and apparently bit him in the face. His previous owners reported that he hadn’t shown these types of behaviors before the puppy arrived, and had gotten along well with the other dogs (both big and small, male and female) in his foster home. In foster care, Diesel Truck loves to play with the other dogs--one of his favorite things to do is to grab a toy and chase! Potential adopters should be aware that Diesel Truck was surrendered due to dog aggression, but has not shown any in his foster home.

His foster family doesn’t have any cats, but they tell us that Diesel Truck sniffed at their chicken and showed no sign he was imagining his new friend was a basket of chicken wings. It is very likely the young boy could co-exist with a dog-savvy cat (and especially one who might not mind an occasional game of chase.)

It would be preferable if Diesel Truck’s new home had a fenced yard, but an apartment would be okay if his new owner(s) lived near a dog park and were committed to giving him lots of walks and exercise every day. Diesel Truck loves to explore, and exercise and outside stimulation are important for him.

Diesel Truck has gotten along great with the kids (and grandkids!) he has met in his foster home, and we hear they adore him too. When playing, Diesel Truck can get a bit excitable, so kids over 5 years old are a safe bet, but younger kids might be considered if they are dog-savvy (and, as with any child and dog, will need to be monitored by an older sibling or adult.)

Diesel Truck is a happy trucker when he can settle in your lap (or for that matter, anyone’s lap—Diesel Truck just loves the people!) Diesel Truck is happy to chew on a bone if you have work or chores to do, but if he thinks you’ve ignored him for too long he will put his paws on your leg—knock, knock, I’m ready for you to play with me now! Diesel Truck was even agreeable to his foster mama’s request that he don a pet tuxedo and pose for some pictures of his dapper self for Mother’s Day!

Diesel Truck is crate-trained, and though he does try to convince you to open the door with a little crying, he soon settles down once he realizes it won’t work. He is also completely housebroken—not one accident in his foster home!

Diesel Truck could accompany you to the office, providing he had a bone and some belly rubs. He doesn’t bark, listens well, and with a little time and training he could adjust to office life. Diesel Truck would also do fine with a mid-day walk and exercise routine, but keep in mind that he is a real companion animal, and would need your time and energy after work.

Diesel Truck doesn’t present any of the health issues that are typical for Frenchies, nor does he have other general health issues. Of course, his new people would need to take precautions as with any French Bulldog, such as avoiding overheating. First-time Frenchie owners would need to understand the characteristics of the stubborn bully breeds so as to not let the cute young thing rule the roost! An obedience class would be a great outlet for Diesel Truck to learn, and to bond with his new family.

His foster mom has this to say about Diesel Truck: “Diesel is a young dog with a lot of personality. He will sit in your lap and watch the world go by or participate in it, whichever you prefer to do. I want to see him with a person or family that is going to be dedicated to helping him become the best that he can be. He is still young and has a lot of things to learn and see. He needs someone that is going to be a leader because he has that little Frenchie sparkle that makes him cute and thinks he can get away with things. He is very good in the house and has never chewed or destroyed anything. He is at that good age where he doesn’t have all the puppy naughtiness but still young enough to learn new things. He is going to make someone a wonderful companion, and with proper guidance a great little dog.”

Diesel Truck is sniffing, playing, and napping in Northern Florida. Diesel Truck would love to travel to his new home in an 18-wheeler and watch the world go by—a hybrid car or a plane ride would be just fine too—but he won’t be shipped.
