Oh, little Darlin’! Her snuggly, huggly little spirit shines right through the computer screen. She’s waiting patiently for a home like yours to call her very own. Picture yourself with this golden colored delight, curled up in the comfiest air-conditioned spot on a summer afternoon. Darlin’s sunny personality is a testament to her resilience, as she is a puppy mill survivor. One of the Oklahoma 10, she spent the first six years of her life in a cage.

Adapting to family life has been no problem for Darlin’ – she fits right in. It is as though she wants to soak up every minute and every comfort that life has to offer her. She savors the soft spots in her foster home and goes from chair, to couch, to bed, enjoying them all! She is catching up on her beauty rest and likes to sleep A LOT. But, when she is awake she can be very active. She hops when she runs, too excited to keep all four feet on the ground at once!

Darlin’ plays and cuddles with any dogs or humans that are available. She is very comfortable with children, and might even like cats. We’re not sure if cats would care for her “in your business” curiosity, though. An experienced, dog-savvy cat would probably just shrug and walk away, as she means no harm.

Initially, Darlin’ was food aggressive in foster care, perhaps as a result of having to compete for resources in the mill. She is very comfortable with her foster siblings now, and has not had any outbursts of aggression recently. A clingy and insecure frog, she will appreciate a calm leader in her forever life who can assure her that everything is okay -- there is plenty of food and affection to go around.

Darlin’ is a healthy Frenchie, despite her history. She had a hematoma in her right ear that had not been treated, and her ear “cauliflowered”. When she arrived in foster care, both ears were infected and swollen. Her teeth were in bad shape as well. She’s all fixed up, but her ears and teeth should be kept particularly squeaky clean. A mammary tumor was tested and is not a current danger, but must be watched for changes.

Lots of square feet and a spacious yard are not necessary for this easy-to-please little lady with modest needs. She is doing just fine in her foster parent’s apartment and has fun getting exercise on a treadmill. Too much heat makes her wilt very quickly, so pleasant strolls in the early morning or the cool of evening would be perfect. Her foster mom is impressed with how well she’s done with housebreaking as she’s 98% there. She’s stays in her crate during the day with a mid-day break.

When asked to describe the ideal home for Darlin’, her foster mom replied,”Someone who has time for her! She loves to be around people and needs constant attention when they are home. This is the most important thing to me! She was not given much attention at the puppy mill, and she has really flourished with the extra attention that I have given her. She is one of the most loveable dogs that I have ever been around, and I just want her to be loved as much as she will love her owner.”
