Lovely in pink, Miss Daisy Mae is back! An FBRN grad, she is back with us through no fault of her own. Getting a divorce, her adoptive parents were not able to care for her any longer. Not to worry, little girl. There is a new, perfect family waiting for you out there!

Daisy is an outgoing, inquisitive little Frenchie who has taken the changes in her life in stride. She arrived in foster care with some itchies on her chin and an ingrown toenail which required minor surgery to fix. Ouch! None of this has set her back though, and she explores her foster home and the surrounding woods with gusto. She also delights in looking out the car window and in playing with little kids. She really loves children of all ages! Children in her foster family range in age from four to eleven, and she enjoys loving them all.

Happy to take a short jaunt on her leash, Daisy does not require extensive exercise. She contentedly basks in the sun after a little walkie. She is an alpha female (love those Frenchie girls!) and her strong will emerges as she pulls hard when she wants to go somewhere, or plunks her butt down when she doesn't. However, her strong-willed foster mom has been working on her leash manners and made great progress. Now little Miss Daisy is even learning to heel!

She's a smart little cookie and uses her intelligence to get her way. For example, she quickly figured out how to spit out her pills and keep the treat when taking her medications. Though it seems that Daisy Mae has not had formal training, she’s quickly learned to stand “back” when her foster mom opens the door, and then waits for “ok, come out” before heading out the door.

Daisy is really a people frog at her core. She likes people a whole lot. Her feelings toward other animals are less sanguine. She lunges and growls at strange dogs or cats that enter her territory. When she was in transit to her foster home, she stayed briefly with a family with three dogs. She liked the small submissive males, but went into attack mode around the female. She’s since met multiple male dogs, and as long as the introductions are down at a sloooooooow pace, she seems to be okay with them. She would probably be okay sharing a home with a submissive male, although she’d be just fine with being your one and only.

Playing with her Nylabones or stuffies helps pass the time, but Daisy would really prefer to lounge with her humans, especially the kids.

She would be a great go-to-work pal, schmoozing with your co-workers and sharing your brown bag with you – as long as you don't work where there are other animals! If left home while you work, she will need someone to give her several breaks during the day. She has not been crated in foster care, but she has been confined to bathroom at times and after some typical Frenchie complaining, she settled down and went to sleep with no destructive behavior at all.

She had some piddle accidents when she first arrived, but that may have been stress-related as she has been good ever since with frequent opportunities to go out. If let out in a yard, it must be fenced as she will bolt given the chance. She would also be able to adapt to an apartment or condo.

A lovely, clever little frog, Daisy is waiting to be your children's best friend – the dog they will always remember when they grow up. Let them help you fill out the application for her today.
