If you like a big, happy handful of a Frenchie pup, Clide might just be your dream come true. He was surrendered because he was a little too "much" for his Frenchie sibling (in other words, Clide can get a little big for his britches) and his owner, a full time student, knew she didn't have the time or wherewithal to give him the time and training he needs.
Now don't get me wrong; Clide is not a rotten dog, just a young, growing, boisterous boy who needs some calm direction and face time with his people. At seven months, he's still growing, and he looks like he will become a fairly large, strapping frog. He has the potential for some skin issues, but he looks pretty good right now. His forever people will want to keep an eye on him, keep him on a good diet and be proactive should any itchy flare-ups arise.
Like any healthy, happy youngster, Clide loves to play, play play, and he can be a little rambunctious! Families with dog-savvy kids over the age of twelve are welcome to apply. Clide would love a canine sibling, and would probably get along best with a female who likes to play and who is larger than Clide. He likes a girl who isn't adverse to a little rough housing! He lives with a cat in foster care, but he is just a teeny bit too interested in her, if you know what I mean. A kitty-free abode would suit Clide best.
Clide is still a puppy and he has energy to burn. He will need to burn some of it off by romping with another dog or by taking lots of long power walks with his people. He will also need someone who can say a firm NO and mean it. (It's tough to do. He is such a cutie pie!) Pushovers need not apply. Clide would LOVE to do some obedience work. He has had some work with walking on a lead but would love to do more and it would be so good for him in every way.
Clide is crate trained and is doing very well with house training, considering his age. He still has the occasional accident and his forever people will want to keep him on a regular schedule and reinforce his good house manners. He could be in a home where someone works away from home as long as he gets a lunchtime potty break. He is a little too young and full of beans to take to the office at this point, but with time and training, who knows? He might become the office manager.
The ideal home for Clide would be with someone who has experience with a dog that can be a handful and who enjoys and can help focus that kind of energy. He is not a "first time dog" kind of a guy, although a first time Frenchie owner would be okay. Another, playful, sturdy (and preferably larger) dog would be a great companion for him. If there is no other dog, it will be important that he be socialized with other dogs and get plenty of exercise.
Like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, Clide's "head is made out of rubber, and his tail is made out of springs!" If your household could use some "bounce" and you have the time and temperament to raise a young frog up right, then consider applying for young Clide. He's boinging around his foster home in SW Missouri and we wouldn't dream of shipping him.
