Calvina captured all of our hearts when she first came into foster care with FBRN, and now she’s ready to capture yours! In her scant two years, this little girl has had to endure more than most do in a lifetime. Found as a stray, Callie had either been tied to a tree or left in a vacant rental property. She somehow found a way to free herself and was found wandering the streets. When she came into foster care, she had such severe Demodectic mange that she barely had two hairs on her whole body, and she was swollen and wrinkled from the infection.
The Callie you see before you barely resembles the itchy baby that came in a few weeks ago. Even while her Demodex was at its worst, Callie was the happiest, most loving, cuddly puppy that we have ever seen. It’s amazing how wonderfully resilient these babies are, even when their lives have been very rough!
Callie is now finishing up her treatment for mange, and look! She has fuzzies all over her precious little body! She is just the cutest little thing--you can practically see her wiggling with glee in her pictures. Callie is so good-natured; she just loves playing with other dogs and with kids. So, furbabies and skinbabies alike would be great in her new home. She’s never been around cats, so we’re unsure how she’d feel about kitties.
Callie is a chill girl. She loves to have her sunbathing time, but that’s only when you’re not available for hugs and cuddles--her true favorite activity. She has a ball chasing after the kids or other dogs in her foster home! She’s such a playful girl, and she has never met a stranger. Her Frenchie zoomies are legendary, and we could swear she’s hit speeds upwards of 90mph. This mademoiselle is fast!
In addition to her winning personality, Callie is as sharp as a tack. She learns easily, and is very responsive to her people. She just LOVES people! She is housebroken and crate trained, but she is not a fan of being crated while there are people home. Have we mentioned that she loves people? She can’t bear to be away from her cuddle pals.
Callie’s foster home is currently working on some manners with her, teaching her to sit and keep her front paws off of people. It can be tough to contain all that love and joy, so it’s a work in progress.
Callie doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. As her foster momma says, “She is all sugar and spice!” Callie is happiest with the simple joys of everyday life--sleeping, eating, cuddling, and playing with toys. She’s a pretty low-maintenance gal. Callie's perfect home would either have someone home all day with her, or someone who can come home for a play/cuddle/tinkle break at lunch. Not necessarily in that order. She would also love to come to work with you because it would be an opportunity to meet with more of her favorite thing--people! A fenced yard would be ideal for her since this little bundle of wrinkles loves to sun herself outside and bake for a while.
Callie’s foster mom has this to say about her sweet, little girl:
Callie is a very sweet and loving dog. She is quiet and funny! She snores a little when she sleeps. She came to us very sick, but has made a dramatic recovery! She loves my kids and runs to greet them when they wake up in the mornings. She has never shown a mean or bad attitude. She gets her medicine wrapped in cheese every day. You’d swear she was a cheetah in a French bulldog costume by how fast she gets to the kitchen when she hears the cheese wrapper unfolding!
If you think you’re the right lucky home for Callie the wonder dog, please come on down to Texas, because she will not be shipped.
