Calamity Jane came to FBRN as part of the Texas 13, a group of dogs that came from a breeder who was downsizing. She is a lover, not a fighter, and has made friends with all the critters in her foster home, including kitties and two dogs. In fact, she's so lovable that one of the kitties took it upon himself to clean out her ears for her. All the animals like to sleep curled up in a big pile, keeping each other warm and providing meaty pillows for each other. Now Jane needs a forever home to snuggle in.

Jane is a healthy girl. In foster care, she was spayed and treated for a case of Ehrlichia, a bacterial infection spread by ticks. She responded well to medication and is now healthy. She is slightly pudgy, and as much as we love her just the way she is, we know that it would be healthier for her if she lost a little weight. Potential adopters should include exercise plans for Jane.

Jane is housebroken and is crate trained. She has not had any obedience training, and this would be necessary if someone wanted her to be an office dog. An at-home person would be lovely, but Jane would do just fine with a mid-day walk. Similarly, a fenced yard would be terrific as she likes her outdoor time, but Jane is ok without one, and any sort of house or apartment would do.

Active outdoor people would be a great match for Jane. As with all Frenchies, she needs to be monitored for overheating - especially in warm weather, but her active energy level means that she wants to go with you! We have not seen Jane around children. Given her energy and exuberance, we think that she would be too much for the smallest kids, and just fine with older ones.

Her foster mom says, “ Jane is a happy, fun-loving clown. She is dominant but not aggressive. She is active but not hyper. She likes her squeaky toys and she loves to play with other dogs. She would adjust to any situation. She is a beautiful well-adjusted, playful and charming gal.“
