Buzby buzzed right into FBRN’s care in a most grateful way and we are so happy to have this boy! A big round of applause for all the kind, caring people left in the world! This creamy, dreamy, 8-year-old boy was found lying in a yard in shock, with over 60% of his little body covered in hot spots, some of them infested with maggots. Animal control swooped in and immediately turned Buzby over to the care of a lovely, local vet who took him under her wing and began life saving treatment.

Buzby has recovered from his scary brush with death and is now ready to find a loving home of his own. He does suffer from some food and seasonal allergies so he should be kept on a grain free, fish based diet. He also tends to get an occasional hot spot and itchy feet from walking in the grass. Frequent baths with medicated shampoos help greatly with Buzby's itchies!

In spite of whatever horrible past he may have endured, Buzby has proved to be pure sweetness! He has shown that he likes kids of all ages and he gets along great with his foster fur siblings. There aren't any cats in his foster home, so as per FBRN policy we'll take no chances and say "no" to a home with kitties. Buzby is learning what it's like to be a part of the family and how nice it is to be a house dog. He's a laid back and mellow Frenchie who likes to hang out with his foster fur siblings. He also loves to curl up in his family's lap for a snuggle or you'll find him in his bed taking a nap. Buzby loves to chew on Nylabones and play with tug toys. One of his favorite toys is a rope toy that is tied up in knots. He'll try for hours to undo the knots! He's also a bit of an explorer out in the yard while chasing leaves and bringing small rocks into the house.

Buzby's potty training has come a long way since being in his foster home and particularly since being neutered. He has access to a doggie door and has learned to follow the other dogs outside to go potty. He may still try to 'mark' in his new home in the beginning, so his new family will have to be very understanding and patient. When Buzby's foster mom isn't home, he is in a large gated area and he hasn't had any accidents.

Buzby does well with either a family with older children or a single person. Someone who is experienced with skin allergies would be ideal. Access to a secure fenced yard would be preferred for Buzby since he loves to explore and play outside. He would not do well in an apartment situation unless there was a floor level apartment with an ample, secure sized yard for him to play in. Buzby would also enjoy the company of another dog to spend his time with. Buzby would do best with someone that is home most of the day to let him out to go potty and tend to his needs. He would also do well going to work with someone as long as he has some chew toys to occupy his time.

Buzby's foster mom had this to say about him: "Buzby started off with horrible skin conditions and maggots living on his flesh. He harbors no ill will toward anyone and just wants to be with you. He loves to be loved and naps on your lap are his favorites! A few bones and a soft bed in the living room are perfect things for him. He enjoys going outside and exploring and chasing leaves. He loves to hang out with my girl Frenchies and is a gentle soul with them. They are teaching him to play! A sweet loving little man he is and from his first day here he has tried to do his best to please. He deserves someone who will be there for him and take care of him as he reaches his senior years."

The leaves are falling in Nebraska and Buzby is not wasting a second chasing them. If you have a soft spot in your heart for this very special frog, then consider submitting an online application for him. If you are selected to give Buzby a home, you should be prepared to travel to Nebraska to pick him up.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
