One of our mature ladies of FBRN - Burgyn- is ready to look for that special place to call home. Burgyn was surrendered to FBRN when her skin issues became too much for her previous owners to handle. While in foster care, Burgyn has had her ear infections treated, and her skin is currently under control with the help of an oral steroid. She is also deaf. None of this has slowed Burgyn down, though. She loves people and likes nothing more than a good belly rub. Her needs are simple – a good Nylabone, sleeping in the bed with her people, an occasional car ride and time to bask in the sun. She is not overly active; she prefers sticking close to her people and soliciting belly rubs.

Burgyn is housebroken but she can only "hold" it for about 4 hours, so a dog walker is a must, or she could go to the office with you. She would LOVE that! Frequent potty breaks are important as she consumes a lot of water as a side effect of her allergy medication. A fenced in yard is a must due to Burgyn's hearing loss. An apartment would also be acceptable, but a house would be preferred only because when excited or upset she makes the most terrible screeching noise ever. She doesn't bark, she screeches. She likes children and is very gentle with them. Children must be aware that she is deaf and approach her slowly. Other dogs don't really bother her but initially make her very excited (so she screeches). So a dog in her next home would be okay, as long as it was laid back and was not offended by her odd noises. She would much rather hang out with her people rather than her doggy friends.

Burgyn's personality is easy-going and sweet. Her allergies are a little bit more unpredictable. She has been known to chew her paws raw, as is common with allergy dogs. She is currently on a decreasing steroid dose and Zyrtec daily, but her forever family must be vigilant about watching her for further outbreaks. She gets a medicated bath once a week and she eats a grain-free and preservative free food. Her foster mom will go over this with her new family. Allergy dogs' skin outbreaks can be unpredictable, so vigilance is a must! With an allergy dog, vet visits are often more frequent and the cost can be significant. Applicants should consider this when applying.

We love our mature dogs here at FBRN. They can provide such joy and happiness to their forever families. Don't you agree? Her foster mom says this : "Burgyn is a peach. She is a fun, loving, enjoyable little lady who would just love to fall into a family that can love and care for her the rest of her life! She may be deaf, but she lives life to the fullest and gives the best Frenchie hugs ever!"

Burgyn is enjoying the sun in northwestern Wisconsin. She loves car rides so be prepared to pick her up in person.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
