This little love bandit is out to steal your heart... don’t you just want to reach out and hug his little mug? In a breed abounding with cuteness, Bugsy is exceptionally adorable. His squish-ability quotient tops the charts. A charming friend, Bugsy is a go-where-you–want-to-go, do-what-you-want-to-do kind of guy. He is companion who is cuddly and playful without making too many demands.
Birthday boy Bugsy recently turned four years old. He celebrated big time because his allergies are under control. His dedicated foster mom’s persistence and a good dermatologist did the trick. Now his darling pink belly is smooth and itch free. Bugsy had a scratch test that identified his allergens in the midatlantic area, one of which was his own cotton tee shirts! Now, shirtless and with allergy shots he is feeling great. He will need a lifetime regimen of the easy-to-administer shots which run about $250.00 a year in his foster home’s area. He also needs an inexpensive, twice daily pill to correct his hypothyroidism.
Like a chameleon, Bugsy takes on the characteristics of his environment. Normally calm and mild-mannered, he can get riled up when there is too much excitement going on. If the other dogs greet an incoming guest with too much exuberance he can become a toeminator, biting at feet. His foster mom feels if he were an only dog (or at least with calmer dogs) he would not do this.
Calm and steady does it for our Bugs. He would thrive in a relaxed home with folks who are experienced with bully breeds’ personality and health issues. His little pancake face is very, very flat so his new family must be aware of the limitations that imposes. He favors calm, larger dogs, and would be fine without any dogs at all. He has a charming signature move of leaping up toward your face to land a little kiss, which could be unnerving if you are an excitable sort.
Bugsy is housebroken, but will have an accident if you are not paying attention when he asks to go out. He would probably do very well with a doggy door so he can excuse himself for the necessaries. Of course, if allowed out in the yard there should be a fence. He is also crate trained, and could wait at home for a mid-day break. What he would really like, though, is to go to work with you, maybe sharing a nice packed lunch. He enjoys the yummy, healthy raw diet his foster mom gives him and we’re sure she will share her secrets for keeping Bugsy happy.
This darling little clown is ready to be your forever snuggle buddy. Describing him fondly, his foster mom says, “Bugsy loves to chew his toys, go for walks and get belly rubs. And his very favorite thing is to go for car rides! He's very calm but also loves to play with the resident male Boxer. They 'face fight' for a few minutes every day. And now that he's not so itchy we're seeing Bugsy really come to life.
Bugsy is so easy to love and care for, and he makes your extra effort so worth it! There's nothing sweeter than watching him fall asleep in your arms.
