Brutis has spent his time in foster care discovering his inner puppy self. And what a handsome adorable self it is! This adorable little guy came to FBRN after his previous owners decided that they did not have the time to devote to a puppy, and that crating him 14 hours a day wasn’t fair to him. Brutis has since embraced the wild and free life, exploring and enjoying all the pleasures life has to offer a young Frenchie.

Brutis is a very handsome 8 month old who is just coming into his own (think a young Brad Pitt.) He currently weighs in at 23 lbs but he will fill out some more as he continues to grow. He is quite healthy although he is still recovering from all those long hours in the crate. He is somewhat “down” in his front paws, but this has improved with time to exercise and romp. Brutis also has some issues with both rear hips. They both pop completely out of socket and it can be heard when he is getting up from a nap or something with a long resting period. The vet said there is a good chance he may need surgery when he gets older. He uses dog steps to get up to the bed, but insists on flying off the bed via jumping. Hopefully, time, exercise and good food will help resolve his front paws, although his forever family must be open to some unknowns when it comes to his hips and paws.

Brutis has some absolutes musts that his forever family must provide. First, he absolutely must have a canine sibling who is young enough to enjoy playing with Brutis and to keep him out of mischief. He has never lived with cats, so they are an unknown. His time in the crate has made him a little skittish of those fast moving small humans, so older kids would be preferable for Brutis to feel comfortable. He loves romping and rambling in his backyard so a fenced yard is a must. He is learning leash manners and will need obedience training as well. He is still a puppy!

Brutis may be able to adjust going to the office in his future, but for now he enjoys living the puppy life. He enjoys being with his people and soaks up attention like a sponge. He loves Nylabones and can usually be found with one hanging from his mouth. His forever family needs to have at least one stay at home parent as he has spent long enough in a crate, thank you, and has no intention of repeating his incarceration. He is still learning the ins and outs of housebreaking and his forever family will need to be committed to keeping him on a schedule to accomplish this goal.

Brutis’s foster mom has this to say: “When Brutis came into our home, he would drop to the floor and become a canine pancake if anyone tried to touch him. He did not trust people and did not know how to snuggle or kiss. He has come so far. While still skittish with children, he now will come up the dog steps to the bed, curl up on his back in the crook of my arm like a small infant, and fall asleep and snore there for hours. He loves his people and is not afraid to kiss or snuggle anymore. He likes to sleep in the people bed and I find that to be the easiest way for me to keep an eye on him overnight. If he is looking to get down, he has to go outside. His adorable snoring and snorts just make me giggle with delight, knowing that Brutis is finally at peace with his people. He had a rough start at life, and he really deserves someone to love him as much as we do. I don’t know that I have ever met a Frenchie that is so handsome and has such a gentlemanly swagger to his step.”

If you think this handsome young frog would make the perfect fit for your family, please consider applying for Brutis. He has come such a long way in a short time and he has so much more to give. He is currently preparing for fireworks and barbecues in Missouri. Plan on joining him there as he will not be shipped.
