Bristol started her life as no frog ever should, but now, healed and happy, she is anxious for a fresh start with a loving family that will cherish her forever.
This pretty little froglette was abandoned by her previous owners at a veterinary ER after being hit by a car. Her rear leg was broken, was set and has since healed. Her most recent X-rays showed that all is well! An incidental finding on her earlier X-rays showed that her hips are a bit less than perfect. Bristol will need to be kept on a glucosamine supplement for life to keep her comfortable. Other than that, this princess is in tip-top shape!
At just 9 months old, Bristol is still every bit a puppy. While she is a happy kid who adjusts well to various situations, she can be mischievous when unattended. Her favorite sport is to chew furniture! She is a high energy, go! go! go! type of kid. Bristol enjoys playing with her canine foster siblings. She also loves a long game of fetch with a tennis ball and enjoys being chased by the resident kitties! Bristol will also do zoomie runs by herself around the yard when everyone is too tired to play. A forever home with a fenced yard is a must for Bristol! She’s a youngster who needs to burn off steam without getting hit by any more cars. On the rare occasion that Bristol is worn out, she enjoys a warm lap to curl up in to snooze.
Bristol is great with the resident cats in her foster home – she’s even submissive with them – so a home with a dog-savvy kitty would be fine. (Especially kitties that think they’re dogs themselves and would enjoy playing with her!) She gets along fine with her canine foster sibling, although she likes to be a bit dominant with him. A home with another dog is a must, as Bristol enjoys having a playmate and cries when he’s not available - but no dominant dogs need apply! Bristol can be food aggressive with her canine foster sibling so she must be fed separately. Ditto for chewies or any other food type chew toy. She is fine with non edible toys, and her canine foster sibling is able to take a coveted toy right out of her mouth! Bristol is not food aggressive with her humans in any way.
Bristol is still a bit unsure when it comes to meeting new dogs, and will bark and growl by way of introduction. After she has time to check them over she seems to be fine.
Being just a kid herself, Bristol has enjoyed the company of both an 11 month old and a 5 year old human. A home with young children would probably be fine as long as they are respectful, dog-savvy children. Bristol is still a high energy puppy with no training, and may jump and knock down a small child, so obedience training should be a must for her forever family.
Bristol hasn’t been spending all of her time in foster care having fun. Oh, no! She’s been working very hard on her potty training also. She gets the general concept but she’s not 100% there yet. She will need a very patient forever family who enjoys making frequent runs to the great outdoors. Until Bristol is housebroken it would be ideal if someone was home most of the day to accommodate her. A mid-day break doesn’t seem to be enough for her. She may also do well as an office dog, as she is a sweetie who loves people. A person with a flexible office job who could walk her frequently would be great. Bristol is also working on her crate training. She is quiet while resting in her crate with a chew toy, but still hasn’t grasped the concept of keeping a dry crate. Her forever family will have to be diligent in her crate training/potty training skills.
Bristol’s foster mom has these words to add about this loveable kid: "Bristol is a very sweet girl. She is a wonderful dog who is happy to just be with you. She loves our dog Vinnie, and loves to play with our cats. She does need some work on housebreaking! Whoever adopts her will need to work with her. She has been with us for a few months and is getting better. She has been great with everybody she meets, even children. She does have a lot of energy but once she settles she just wants to sleep on you! She is crated during the day when we are not home. She is quiet and shows no signs of any separation anxiety. Bristol has had a rough start to life and we hope she can find a wonderful home!"
If you think you have the energy to keep up with Bristol, put your application in for her today! And be prepared to pick this kid up. Bristol is in Massachusetts and will not be shipped!
