This is a revised bio. Brick has been undergoing rehab, and is virtually recovered from his spinal injury.

Brick has some developments to share with interested parties. He’s grown much stronger and he is mostly recovered from his back injury. He’s ready to run circles around his doggy friends, round up stuffed toys, and generally join Frenchie mayhem. He’s hopeful this additional info will help him find his forever home.

Brick is one of our very manageable dogs who just barely qualifies as one of our special needs frogs. After his spine ruptured, it was determined after many tests that he was not a candidate for surgery and he has recovered quite well even without it. Because his family was not able to support him during his rehabilitation, he was lovingly surrendered to FBRN.

This handsome boy has made an amazing recovery and lives a full, healthy, active lifestyle. He loves tearing around the yard seeking out bunnies and other critters. Even at 5 years old, zoomies around the yard are an everyday occurrence. When he goes out for longer walks he wears booties to protect his toes because his feet have a tendency to drag a little. But he goes bootie-free most of the time when he’s simply racing through the house or yard.

Brick currently lives with other dogs and gets along with them well. He sometimes annoys the others by hoarding all the toys, but if somebody stands up to him and calls him out on his thieving ways, he’ll quickly back down. He also responds well to voice commands from his human.

He loves squeaky toys and will murder a stuffed toy every now and then need a nap after the mayhem.

This boy is crate trained and happily goes in when it’s time take a nap or just get some rest. Though Brick is mostly housebroken, one remaining side effect is that he does not have 100% control of his bowels. It’s clear he does his best to hold it until he’s outdoors, but sometimes he has accidents. Eating a high quality kibble diet and being kept on a regular schedule has done wonders to keep this boy regular which helps keep the accidents at a minimum and is very manageable for someone who is able to take him out to potty 3-4 times throughout the day. If he is very excited or is exerting himself before having a chance to go outside, he’s likely to dribble pee a bit.

His current foster parent is able to give him regular potty breaks and there’s no need to diaper him. However, for outings where an accident would cause embarrassment or inconvenience, Brick will don a diaper (size 5 if you must know).

Brick would do great with nearly any kind of family as long as there’s lots of love involved. Ideally, his new home would have a large yard that he can explore.

Due to Brick’s mild separation anxiety, an apartment or condo may not be the best home for him. If he is kept in a crate while his person is not home, he will whine some, and that is likely to annoy neighbors. Because Brick loves being with his person so much, it would be better for Brick if his person was home with him most of the time. Brick would also make a good office dog as long as his person took the time to give him potty breaks.

Now, here’s a note from his foster parent:

Brick is ready to rumble! He’s been down a long road of recovery and therapy and moved to the other side, now he’s ready to tackle the long road of life with a new forever family that’s just as eager to be adventurous as Brick is. Whether you’re the type to just sit and relax most of the time or you're a go getter, Brick will be by your side. He’s very loyal, sweet and gentle (unless pitted against a stuffie!). What a unique, solid, great character Brick has. You will not be disappointed in this dog; he’s a great example of overcoming the odds and making the most out of life.

He’ll be waiting patiently in his Northern Colorado foster home until his forever family comes along to pick him up.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
