Watch out world, the adorable floppy-eared Boudreaux is making his second debut on the available page and we think the cuteness factor of the page just went up a notch! Beaux (as he's known) was adopted from FBRN in 2010, but came back into the rescue when his owners had twins and no longer had enough time to devote to him.

Boudreaux has skin allergies and is a little hard of hearing, but is an otherwise healthy frog. Since he's come into rescue, his allergies have been managed very well by keeping him on a rare-protein kibble and an over-the-counter allergy medicine. He shouldn’t be fed any table scraps. His face and feet are tinged with white, which makes him look older than he really is, but this was caused by constantly scratching when his allergies were being poorly managed. Managing his allergies will be an ongoing issue throughout Beaux's life. Also, because of chronic untreated ear infections he had when he was younger, he has some trouble hearing. Sudden loud noises startle him because he's not always sure where they're coming from. Calling him requires a louder voice than you would have to use with a regular-hearing dog. He does look to humans and to other dogs for cues because of this issue and he does fine.

Beaux’s favorite thing to do is fetch and play tug. This dog is in heaven when he gets a new toy! For some reason he loves to grab a toy in his mouth and then roll on his back and play with it upside down. His favorite so far is a kong tug toy and a little ball. He also likes squeaky toys. He is not a toy snob. If you buy it, he will play with it!

While there are no children in his foster home, Beaux has been exposed to kids at the park and on his trips to Petco. He likes them, but he'd be best in a home with older kids who won't accidentally startle him. Beaux came from a household with another French bulldog and in his foster home he enjoys the company of two Chinese Cresteds. He tries to play with them, but they are not interested. Beaux is a good boy and seems to take their cues and leave them alone, but we think he would be excellent with another playful dog. Beaux does well with the cat in his foster home!

Beaux will play fetch or tug with you all day long and then lie down when you don't want to play anymore. He lets all his crazy people hug him and squeeze him and kiss him! He likes trotting around the yard and he enjoys the occasional walk (he pulls and could use some training there). He is also happy to fall asleep next to you when you're watching TV (if you don't mind the occasional snort or snore!) He really comes alive at mealtimes and will look at you pleadingly - even JUMP higher than you think he's capable of! - Until you put his bowl down. He has not displayed any dominant behavior and follows cues from other animals very well. His only issue is that he will try to eat the other dogs' food if you don't watch him.

Boudreaux is housebroken and learned to use the dog door very quickly. He loves to stick his head through the dog door and sit there surveying the yard. He is also crate trained and knows where to go when told "get in your crate". Beaux goes willingly in his crate to sleep when the crate door is left open. He also knows a few commands ("sit" and "let’s go”) and seems eager to learn. Considering his hearing loss, someone that wanted to work with him using hand signals would be wonderful.

Beaux is great with everyone and would do well in any environment, but we would love to see him go to a home with another playful dog so he can have some companionship. A fenced back yard is preferred because Beaux likes space for his games of fetch, but a fenced yard would not be required.

Beaux has never complained about being in his crate but should not be left in it all day. If he has space and another animal for companionship, a working person who is able to have a dog walker come during the day would be fine. Beaux would even make a fine office companion, but the rest of the folks in the office would need to be prepared for the occasional snort or a little passing of gas.

Here are a few closing words from his foster dad, “Beaux is the kind of guy who wants to make everyone happy and to be happy with his people. He is happy to play when you feel like it or curl up or sleep next to you when you are feeling lazy. He is always curious to know what you're doing. He is lovable and charismatic, loves to play, and is obedient. Beaux is the type of dog that any dog lover would bond with very quickly. He also enjoys watching Anderson Cooper nightly.”

If you think you’re the right forever home for Boudreaux, tell us why in your application. Boudreaux is currently located in Central Texas, and like all our foster Frenchies, will not be shipped.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
