"Boop boop pi do!" Please say hello to Boopie! She was sadly surrendered to FBRN when her owner became too ill to care for her.
Boopie suffers from degenerative disk disease that causes her back legs to give out from under her. She is also prone to urinary tract infections and incontinence. She doesn’t let this get her down though!
Boopie is generally a happy camper. She was fine living with other dogs in her foster home, although due to her medical condition she should be supervised and not allowed to be jumped on, ridden, or otherwise knocked around by other dogs or children. Though she was recently placed in a dog-savvy home, Boopie did not get along with the dogs or children there. We are seeking a quiet home with only one other dog and someone willing to do slow introductions. That means you would introduce the dogs over a period of 4 days to a week. We won't place her in a home with children. Boopie doesn’t require much physical activity and really is content to lie in her bed. Boopie can get defensive with her stuff around other dogs. She's an old lady, and she likes her things just so. Boopie is housebroken, but due to her disability, she can’t always control her bladder. Her foster mom has kept a little diaper on Boopie while she’s at work, however a majority of the time it’s clean when she comes home.
This sweetie would get along well in any type of home. Because of Boopie's medical condition, other dogs will need to be gentle with her. She would be fine with first time Frenchie owners, as long as they are prepared and equipped to deal with her medical issues. It would be nice for Boopie to go to a home where her people are home during the day or have a schedule that allows them to come home to give her potty breaks. A house or apartment would be fine only if there are no steps. Boopie does not do stairs. Since Boopie isn’t much of a runner, a fenced yard isn’t really necessary. Boopie would do well as an office dog, too. As long as she can monitor the goings on in the office from her bed, she’s a happy camper.
This is what Boopie’s foster mom had to say: "Boopie is the sweetest dog I've ever been around. She has been through a lot and has persevered through some pretty horrible health issues but that does not deter her positive attitude. Although her back legs are shaky at times, she is jumping for joy on them to greet me at the door after work. She is a real loafer with a huge heart. She just wants love. She deserves to be spoiled after her rough past; her favorite thing is belly rubs. Boopie is an older gal who enjoys relaxing on her bed and chewing on her bones. She is very content being alone and doesn't need much physical activity, but that doesn't stop her from begging to be petted. She's a love bug, and she just wants the unconditional love that she deserves."
Boopie will be lounging in her bed in WI waiting for her new family. If she melts your heart as much as she did her foster mom’s, then please be prepared to pick her up in person.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
