Please read the puppy mill info page before applying for Belle Starr.

Belle Starr is one of the Texas 13 puppy mill survivors. At five years, she is in the prime of her life and aside from a case of dry eye that requires twice a day drops for the rest of her life – she is right as rain.

This beautiful brindle bundle of love is the stuff of dreams. She adores everybody: adults, kids, dogs, cats, you name it. She could probably live with an armadillo. She has a happy outlook and although she has had no formal training she really seems to understand what you want her to do (and sometimes she even does it!) She is sweetly submissive and loves to follow her people around. In fact, her happiest moments are those spent touching you. It’s hard to imagine this people-focused girl living without gentle human contact. She waited and waited, and now she can’t get enough.

Belle Starr loves to go for walks on a leash, and her mission on these walks to roust out every frog in the territory. (Okay, maybe she shouldn’t live in a house with frogs.) She doesn’t like dog toys, but she does have a weakness for electronics (so far she has killed two Blackberrys and a Samsung Gravity.) This interest extends to electric cords and laptops, too. Keep them up and away, people!

This genius of a Frenchie is reliably housebroken and if left for long hours will avail herself of a pee pad left for that purpose. She spent years in a crate, so is no longer asked to inhabit one. As long as the electronics are out of her way, she is safe in a room.

Belle Star could thrive in a number of situations but we would like her to have a fenced yard so she can run around unfettered. In foster care she stays home while her mom works and that suits her fine. She gets along perfectly with the other Frenchies in her foster home and they all keep each other company. She would also love to go to work, or have a human who works from home.

We’ll be honest here. Belle Star spent her first five years laboring with little reward. The last four months she has been spoiled rotten, and we’d like to keep it that way. She is a good girl, and doesn’t take advantage of her keeper’s kindness. Belle Starr thinks she is in heaven, and we want her to feel that way for the rest of her days. What that means, is that we would like her to go to a home where she will not be crated, and where she will be allowed to sleep on the people bed and get lots of love and attention. She is such a spectacularly grateful and darling charge, it shouldn’t feel like any trouble at all. People with bulldog experience are a plus.

Belle Starr will bring a bright, twinkling and loving energy to her forever home. If you have lots of love and a comfy bed to share, she might be your shining star. Fill out an application for Belle Star today. And if you are the lucky one, please plan on coming to pick her up in person. She’s outshining the stars in the Florida Panhandle, and we wouldn’t dream of shipping her.
