Bandit is an almost 4 year old male who was surrendered by his former owners after he snapped at a toddler who had him trapped in a corner. It resulted in a nip - broken skin and minor bleeding with no doctor visit needed. As you might suspect from this ill-advised incident, Bandit's personality matches his name as well as the black mask he sports.

As you'd expect ftom a bandit, this little guy is healthy, energetic and charming – but prone to some behaviors that the sheriff (i.e., his foster mom) frowns on. He gets along well with the other Frenchies in his foster home and plays with them non-stop. He will run and romp and roll in the dirt, then jump up for a kiss to mom, then race off again before she can blink.

Don't be lulled by this dashing masked man's charisma, though. He has a dominant, but not aggressive, personality and tries to prove it by bullying an English Bulldog puppy with birth defects in his foster home. He shouldn't be placed in a home with any animals with medical issues that his doggie instincts will categorize as "weak." Because of his bite history, Bandit also won't be placed with young children. He seems to like older children, though – their boundless energy and playfulness matches his! Bandit hasn't been observed with cats.

Bandit is house trained and crate trained, but will pick a fight if other dogs pass his crate while he's in it – another sign of dominance. He has had lots of obedience training, which is great for a dominant dog. His foster mom says he is the most obedient dog she has ever fostered, which is high praise indeed. He also responds well to corrections, especially the old squirt bottle if you're a fast draw…

Bandit's ideal home would have older kids and another dog or two for him to play with, but no other types of pets. An experienced Frenchie owner would be best as he is a strong personality. Bandit needs lots of activity and walks to drain off his energy. He would be okay home alone for half a day or so, but if he is crated too long- beware! He will zoom around like there is rocket fuel in that little belly when he gets out from behind bars. The right office setting might work for Bandit, but everyone would have to be okay with his antics and the occasional dog-shaped blur jumping into their lap for a quick kiss, then racing off. Also, due to his energy level a house with a fenced yard is preferred.

Bandit's foster mom has this to add:

"Bandit is learning to snuggle, and I would like a home that will continue to let him know that it is ok to stop and sit in someone's lap to take a nap. He needs an active family that will take him on walks, play with him, and let him sleep in someone's bed. And not have to spend much time in his crate. He grew up an only dog and has decided having fur playmates is a wonderful thing. I call Bandit the kissing bandit. You never know when he is going to decide you need some kissing. He is quick: he is in your lap, gives a couple of kisses, and is off again to play."

If Bandit has stolen your heart, get your posse together and ride out to Colorado to lasso him and bring him home. He won't be shipped.
