Ava is a healthy, happy, kid-loving, cat-tolerant puppy. She is GO. She is CHASE ME! She has yet to meet an animal she didn't like, furry or not. This baby loves to play, but her owner didn't have time to play. So she did the unselfish thing and surrendered Ava to us to find her a new home.

Ava is wonderful with little children. She is having an orgy of fun with the kids, 5 and 3, in her foster family. All day long, there is running, there is hiding, there is seeking, there is squealing and jumping and then there is blessed nap time. And then everybody wakes up and they do it some more until bathtime, and even then Ava wants in the act. Puppy with a bubble hat and beard means kids stay in the tub and are squeaky clean!

Her temperament is just fine. She is a goofy puppy. She does settle down and nap (on the couch with you, please!), but loves to play, either with a toy, or with her people. She is very silly, she loves to run around the back yard in circles. Will chew on things she is not supposed to (she is still a puppy, after all) but loves Nylabones and is easily distracted by giving her one to chew on instead. She is very curious and a lot of fun!

She is housetrained, but she has a puppy-sized bladder, so someone must be around to take her out every few hours. She is crate trained and her foster family crates her when they go out to keep her, and their possessions, safe.

She will sit and come (most of the time!) and she's working on 'stay' and 'drop it'. She LOVES to eat, seriously, she eats her food in about 2 seconds flat, and then is looking for more. She is very food motivated and would do well obedience training with treats! When watching her eat, one can only think of the Japanese competitive speed eating scene. She could give the reigning champ Kobayashi a run for his money! Bring on the hot dogs! Bring on the pie!

Ava is great with the elderly Frenchie in the house. She can be mouthy with the kids, but they say, "No bite!" and Ava quits. She LOVES stuffed toys, she empties the dog toy basket one by one and tosses them all around the living room. Outdoors she likes any kind of ball she can carry in her mouth, and loves to run away with the children's little Frisbee. She loves to have a Nylabone to wind down with as well, it seems to soothe her.

Here's what her foster mom says about the kind of people she's looking for to be Ava's family:
"Ava is a 10 month old puppy. She is fun, spontaneous and cuddly. A home with kids to match her love of life would be great. She needs a home that will give her attention and something to do. Obedience training would be a real plus, too, as she would do well with it. Ava loves to please. She will make a fantastic addition to any family. She would like to have another dog to play with, or at least to keep her company. She likes to lie in sunbeams with our older Frenchie, snoozing away together. She is very easy, honestly."

Ideally, someone will be home all day to ensure that her potty and attention needs are met. Ava may be able to go the office someday, but at this point she still takes a wild hair and races around without warning from time to time. She's also offended by strange, new sounds, so if you are in the office and something goes bang! you'd better not be on the phone with a client. Later for going to the office. Not right now.

In terms of her housing, she loves having a fenced yard so she can play outside. She likes to go crazy and run in circles around and round. Then she likes to chase balls and Frisbees and follows that up with a good chomp on a Nylabone, while lying in the sun. She follows her foster family all over the place, she is a little Velcro dog. She really likes to be with her people, or another dog to hang out with. She likes having a companion! Unless you have really interesting and unique circumstances, we'll give preference to a home with a fenced yard and a friendly dog and a kid or two.

Here is a word from her foster mom about Ava:
"Ava is a doll. We adore her and will all miss her terribly when she goes to her new home. She is a lot of fun, and needs a fun family who will cherish her and enjoy her goofy antics! She has fit right in with our kids and 10 _ year old Frenchie and seems very eager to please. She is a good girl, and deserves good people to love her and play with her! Did we mention she LOVES to play?"

Ava is enjoying playtime in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. If you want her, you'll have to paddle upriver to fetch her, because she won't be shipped.
