One of our favorite handsome foster pups Augustus is finally ready to find his forever home! Who can resist his adorable face with that tongue sticking out?! Certainly none of us here at FBRN can. Gus is a special needs guy with a super personality and charm like no other. If you have a place in your heart and home for those that are little different than the average frog, keep reading. Gus could be the perfect Frenchie for you.
Gus is such a happy camper! He loves to zoom around in his "wheels" and be part of the action. Giving Frenchie kisses and following his people around the house are his specialities. Gus gets along with children of all ages, cats, and other dogs too! The perfect home for Gus is one that has a work from home person or someone who would take Gus to work with them. He is the perfect dog to train as a therapy dog and bring to schools and nursing homes because he is so friendly, he has overcome some pretty tough health issues, and he still keeps a smile on his face.
Augustus came into rescue with spinal issues. He had a past injury that caused him to have minimal to no feeling in his hind end. Gus’ nerve damage is also contributing to his incontinence. Gus currently wears diapers to keep clean and so that there are no accidents in the house. His new family will need to be able to keep him stocked with a good supply of diapers and be willing to change him a few times a day. He is such a good boy about being changed too! Gus has a cart that his FBRN sponsors got for him and he just loves it! Gus also has scoot sacks that he can wear inside the house so that he does not have to be attached to his cart all day long. The scoot sacks are great because they keep his backs legs from getting rug burn while he gets around the house.
Gus' foster family has this to share about him: "Gus has a zest for life, so don't let his spinal issues and incontinence fool you. He is playful and would make someone a great companion and friend (he loves his people!!!). Gus gets along great with other animals too. You will fall in love with him the minute you meet him with that big head and little tongue that sticks out so. If you can find it in your heart to buy diapers for a dog, Gus is the guy for you. Anyone can adopt a perfectly healthy animal, why not one that is special, because that is Gus. He has probably been one of the top fosters that I have taken in, personality wise."
If you are interested in adopting Gus, be prepared to travel. Gus is being fostered in Northeastern Ohio and will not be shipped. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
