Astro was surrendered when his owner lost her job and could not afford his vet visits anymore. In foster care, we have managed to get his allergies under control and found that Astro is a real love!
Treating Astro’s allergies is quite straightforward: he must stay on a high-quality diet and take a maintenance dose of Zyrtec daily. He also needs his facial fold wiped every day to keep them from getting itchy. It is possible that he will have flare ups from time to time, and his new owners must be ready to treat these immediately to keep him comfortable. Aside from his allergies, Astro is a healthy Frenchie.
Astro is housebroken. He has some basic obedience and will go into his crate. He could use more training and this would be a great bonding experience for Astro and his new owners. He tends to snooze for most of the day, so Astro could come to work with you or he could stay at home as long as he got a mid-day break.
Let’s talk about all the things that Astro loves! He loves to walk and gnaw on big stuffies. He loves to play with dogs, cats and kids. He loves to hang out with his people on the couch while chewing on a toy. There is only one thing that he loves to do that his foster mom does not love: he loves to bolt for the open door! So a fence yard is required if he lives in a house, and apartment dwellers will want to discuss their options for leashed walks, dog parks and the like.
His foster mom tells us what Astro is really like. “He's a character! Seems as if he's always smiling & very happy. He comes in from outside and gets the "zoomies" where he starts circling my island in the kitchen so fast he slides into the wall, then jumps on the couch, knocks all the pillows off, and finally collapses. It's hilarious!! He loves to play with my Frenchie! They both jump on the couch and wrestle until all the pillows are on the floor. He sleeps upside down or on his side, all the while snoring like a freight train. Oh, and if he comes up to you and does this little hop, he either has to go potty or he wants a little butt scratch....”
Astro is living the good life in southern Florida, hanging out on the patio and lying in the sun. If you are chosen to be his forever family, get ready to catch a few rays picking him up, as Astro will not be shipped.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
