*Ajax proved to be an escape artist and was returned to FBRN. Applicants for Ajax must have a fenced yard.*
Ajax the Adaptable landed in FBRN’s care when his owner recognized that his busy work schedule was not conducive to keeping Ajax and his Frenchie brother Achilles happy and entertained.
Ajax has proven to be a healthy, active, sociable guy. He loves people, all shapes and sizes, and could happily live with kiddos who are sturdy and over the age of six.
Ajax has a prey drive and shouldn’t live with kitties, birds or rodents.
Why, just seeing him on his evening “June Bug” hunt under the porch is enough to put the fear of God into tiny creatures nationwide!
Fortunately Ajax doesn’t extend his fierceness to playful dogs his size and larger (he’s too much for the yorkie set.) Recently he has been having a whale of a good time running with a greyhound at the dog park.
Woo hoo!
As a puppy Ajax did some obedience training, and a home with leanings toward obedience, flyball or even agility would be right up his alley.
Ajax shows no food or toy aggression, and happily played with Achilles and his foster brother mastiff in his first foster home, and with the greyhound in his current one. He’s crate-trained and potty trained if kept on his schedule, and could be left alone for up to eight hours a day, although he’ll always welcome a mid-day break.
Or, take Ajax to the office with you—he’s a self-confident boy who doesn’t let new people or new situations ruffle his coat. Every new introduction in his foster home was a positive experience.
Ajax’s turn-ons are walks, rope toys, stuffies, and de-stuffing stuffies. And when the fun is over, this big boy is a straight-up cuddlebug who settles right onto the couch for snuggles and a nap. When it’s hot outside he likes to check out the kiddy pool and dip his trotters for a refreshing break.
Ajax’s foster mom envisions a forever home with at least one human or canine buddy. She writes: “I think he would love a home with children aged 6 and up who are active but dog-savvy. He had such a wonderful time playing with my 4- and 6-year-old nephews. Ajax ran around with them without jumping on them. The boys would run down the hallway and then to the couch. Ajax would chase them, and when they jumped on the couch he’d follow them, but he’d always land next to them, never on them. He loved that the boys gave him ropes to pull on, and threw Kongs for him to retrieve. I would like him to have another dog to play with if there are no kids.”
We can’t promise that Ajax will keep your house spotless, but we’re confident that his active, easygoing personality will bring joy for many years to come. Ajax is located in Michigan and he won’t be shipped.
