It’s that time of year again, when children everywhere snuggle in warm quilts and drift off to sleep with visions of sugar-plums…or in our case, visions of Frenchie-Plums! Just in time for the holidays, we are pleased as punch (or hot spiced cider) to welcome 5-year-old Plum into the FBRN fold.
The first thing you might notice about Plum (other than that smushy, smoochable face) is her coquettish head tilt. She’s not being coy; the head tilt is a vestige of vestibular disease, a sudden, non-progressive loss of balance. Vestibular disease is often caused by damage to the inner ear, and such is the case with Plum—back in October, she suffered a severe ear infection, and the head tilt followed soon after. It was during this time that Plum became less tolerant of the small children in her house, and she nipped at her owners’ toddler daughter. They came to the sad decision that Plum would be happier in a house without kids, and tearfully surrendered her to FBRN.
Plum is settling into foster care and will soon receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, as well as a behavioral assessment. In the meantime, she is doing what she does best—lazing about the house, hogging the blankets, and rendering people momentarily frozen with her powers of cute.
If you’d like to lend a paw to our delicious Plum pudding during this season of giving and goodwill, why not become her sponsor? Just click on the link next to her adorable face. Thank you and happy holidays from all of us at FBRN!
Merry Christmas, Plum! Brittany and her Frenchie, Louie!
