Where’s the Frenchie? Peekaboo! This lovely young pup was diagnosed with IVDD, and with a toddler and the addition of a new puppy, the family was overwhelmed. FBRN is happy to help and we know Peekaboo will find someone to love who is able to manage her medical issues.
Because of her delicate spine, Peekaboo will need to avoid stairs (or be carried up and down), as well as wear a harness, not a collar, when out for walks. She also has stenotic nares, which means she can’t exercise too much in warm weather, and she has a history of skin, ear, and urinary infections (possibly due to allergies). Although it’ll take a little work, these are all manageable conditions and this sweet girl is absolutely worth a little extra work!
Peekaboo loves to be at home with her person, and would do best with someone who can spend most of the day with her. She tolerates her crate for short periods, and would likely do well in a quiet, low-traffic home or office throughout the day.
Peekaboo has shown some resource guarding, so families with other dogs must monitor meals and playtime. Any canine siblings should be calm, and slow introductions would be needed. Children in the home would need to be should be older and dog savvy. No cats, birds, or other small pets as Peekaboo has a high prey drive.
This gal is a homebody-- she finds long drives or flights stressful. At home, she loves a good chew toy, or a game of fetch when the mood strikes. Massages and belly rubs are mandatory, and she would love a fenced yard to chase squirrels or just leisurely mill about smelling the blades of grass.
Here’s a few words from Peekaboo’s foster mom, “This little girl is so intuitive--she is sweet and loving. Physically, she requires monitoring and caution to prevent skin irritation, flare-up of back pain or damage. She is not the type of dog that should be left alone. She deserves to be treated like the princess that she thinks she is.”
If you have room in your castle for a beautiful princess who only wants to be the center of your attention, please apply for Peekaboo today. You’ll want to be prepared to travel by car as Peekaboo is too big to fly.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
