“What is special about Paris is her spirit. She was neglected by her humans, yet she exudes love. She has soulful eyes that make all her humans smile and instantly want to give her rubs and snuggles.
Paris is so silly when she is roughhousing. She plays "mouths" and rolls around all crazy. She loves to go to the store in her doggy stroller, she loves for everyone to pet her. Paris loves to be picked up and sit on the couch with her family. She immediately throws herself over a human's lap and promptly falls asleep snoring loudly.”
You’ll love Paris in the springtime! You’ll love Paris in the fall! You’ll love Paris, why will you love Paris? Because your love is near.

This sweet girl was used to neglect, so a sudden medical condition--hind end paralysis--was a silver lining that made someone (in this case, the housekeeper) take action and send her to FBRN for a chance for a better life.

Paris has intervertebral disc disorder that results in urinary incontinence, but she has a schedule and can usually have her bowel movements outside, or she will have bowel movements in her diaper if she is not kept on schedule. Though she can walk for short distances, she must be carried up and down stairs (she does not like ramps) and is not allowed to jump on/off furniture. Because of the extra effort it takes for her to get around, she overheats easily and must be brought inside when it gets too hot.

Paris also has severe allergies to food, environmental allergens, and even human skin cells, and to manage these, she is on a regimen of medication, supplements, raw food, and she doesn't sleep in the humans’ bed. Physical therapy and medication manage her IVDD symptoms. Her new family should be willing to stick to her daily care and have some short-snout experience to know what to look for to prevent overheating. In your application tell us about your experience with brachycephalic dogs, dogs with allergies, and/or dogs with spinal conditions or injuries requiring special care.

While she has challenging medical issues, she loves all people and dogs, and she pays no attention to the chickens at her foster home. Paris needs nothing more than a chance to love everyone around her. She is submissive and loves playing and cuddling up-- she’ll let you know with a bark when she wants a little attention. Paris is pretty low-key; she loves her crate and is fine snoozing while her people are out. An office environment would be too much excitement, but she’s fine on her own. Though she loves kids, we are looking for a family with older kids for her, kids with some doggy experience who won't pick her up. In our experience, it is nearly impossible for adults to resist picking up a tiny Frenchie, and for kids younger than 8 or 10 it's too much to ask. Everyone would feel awful if she were to be dropped and re-injure her back, so we are looking for older kids for Paris.

Paris’ faves include stuffed animals, snuggles, treats, car rides, and going to therapy (where she gets a special treat of sun butter). And no amount of paralysis will keep her from scooting over to the sound of a refrigerator opening!

If Paris is the puppy of love for you, be prepared to pick her up on the beautiful eastern area of Virginia.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.

ABOUT PARIS:

Paris has several allergies including storage mites and to treat them she gets regular Cytopoint injections, eats a raw diet and takes supplements. She also gets regular medicated baths. She has a history of skin infections and her skin should be monitored for recurrence. Her vet can show you what to look for if you are uncertain.

Sadly, because she is allergic to human skin cells she oughtn't sleep in the human bed.
