“Marta loves car rides, zooming in the backyard, and running off leash at the dog park (she is fast!) She also loves to cuddle under the blankets. She is youthful and playful for her age.”
ABOUT MARTA: Marta was treated for eye ulcers (Oct. 2017), and her eyes must be monitored for recurrence. She had a benign cyst removed during her spay on Dec. 12, 2017.

Preference will be given to applicants who would like to adopt both Brigitta and Marta, because they are a truly bonded pair.

Ay que linda! It’s brindle beauty Marta, here on the Available Page and ready for her fur-ever home!

When Marta’s previous owners could no longer afford her care, they brought her to a local shelter to be euthanized. Thankfully, the shelter workers convinced the owners to surrender Marta instead, and before you could say Jack Robinson, she was snug in an FBRN foster home.

Marta is a sassy, spry senior who is in excellent health for a lady of a certain age. She went through her spay surgery like a champ, at which time the veterinarian also removed a benign cyst from her neck. Marta came into foster care with eye ulcers, but those are a thing of the past thanks to some medicated eyedrops. Her new family should keep an eye out (pun intended) for any recurrence, but other than that, Marta is in tip-top shape.

Personality-wise, Marta is sweet as dulce de leche, but much better for your waistline because she will keep you on the run! She is a speed demon who loves doing zoomies in the backyard and donuts at the off-leash dog park. After a good run, her favorite activity is to cuddle under the blankets with her people.

Marta generally likes other dogs, but she is definitely a diva and gets along best with dogs who are laid back and not interested in challenging her author-i-tay. Cats aren’t a good fit for Marta, but kids certainly are, so long as they’re over age 12 and dog savvy. The main thing that children (and adults) must be cognizant of is that Marta is the chewiest of chewers, and will put just about anything into her mouth if she thinks it is food or a toy. This includes actual food and toys, as well as items that are categorically *not* food and toys, including kids’ action figures, your favorite summer espadrilles, and literal garbage. The best way around this is to make sure that Marta has plenty of chew toys at her disposal…and to watch her like a hawk. Stepping on a Lego is painful, but Marta eating a Lego could be deadly, so it’s important to keep an eye on her and avoid potential choking hazards. Of course, it’s not much of a chore to keep your eyes on such a pretty smooshy face.

Marta is fully housetrained, loves car rides, and will let you know if someone’s at the door with a confident bark. Because she loves her people so much, she would prefer to have someone home during the day, but she could also adjust to being home without a human so long as the floor is clear of not-chew-toys and she gets a mid-day walk. Marta would also love to be your office mascot, although your co-workers might get jealous after she wins Employee of the Month for the tenth straight time.

Marta’s foster mom says, “Marta loves car rides, zooming in the backyard, and running off leash at the dog park (she is fast!) She also loves to cuddle under the blankets. She is youthful and playful for her age.”

Are you the type of person with a clean floor and a big heart? If so, please apply for Marta by clicking on the link below. Just be prepared to travel—Marta is watching the Stanley Cup playoffs from her foster home in Eastern Ontario, and will not be shipped.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
