Zoom-zoom-zoom! Have you read the cart dog information? Well, here is your chance to adopt the happiest, hunkiest, handsomest cart dog evah!
Iverson's former owner took him to a shelter to be euthanized because he had lost the use of his hind legs. Shelter staff, however, were not about to let that happen. They called a local rescue group, hoping that they could save his life. The rescue group stepped up and sprang Iverson from the shelter, but felt that his needs could best be served in a breed-specific rescue and they contacted FBRN.
One of our first orders of business was to buy him a cart of his very own, and boy, Iverson took to his wheels like a duck to water! He has amazing upper body strength (can you say beefcake?) and can cruise in his cart faster than his foster mom's able-bodied dogs can run! He is a fetching machine, both in and out of his cart, and loves to toss his toys into the air. Iverson is a genuinely happy boy, and is appreciative of any attention he gets. If given the option, he would be content to park himself on someone's lap all day long. He is smart, eager to please, and just… well… a great dog. In fact, his foster mom says that Iverson has the best temperament of any French Bulldog she has ever met -- and we happen to know that she has met a lot of French Bulldogs!
Iverson knows when he has to go potty and he will bark to go outside. Occasionally, he will have a little pee accident when he is excited, or if someone accidentally puts pressure on his bladder when picking him up. He tries, but foster mom notes that sometimes she can't get him out of his scoot sack and outside fast enough. A belly band is a great way to protect one's floor and one's person from inadvertent sprinkles.
Iverson's ideal home would be a one-story house with a grassy yard, but he could live in an apartment as long as there was an elevator. (Lugging a 30-lb Frenchie and his cart up and down stairs several times per day is not our idea of a good time.) A stay-at-home person who can whisk him outside when the need arises would be best, but because he is such a personable guy, he would also do well at a dog-friendly office. As for potential housemates -- Iverson gets overwhelmed around "hyper" dogs, but he does great with calm, well-behaved dogs of all sizes and breeds. We do not know how he reacts to kitties, so, to be safe, there should be none in his forever home. We do know how he reacts to people, though -- he loves them. Big ones, little ones, young ones, old ones -- he absolutely loves them.
Foster Mom says, "Iverson is such a sweet soul and truly something special. Everyone that meets him falls in love. You can't help but smile when you see this big headed hunk roll through the neighborhood. He deserves a chance to live the life he deserves with a loving family of his very own that will cherish and spoil him."
Here's the kicker -- Iverson has feeling in his back legs, and with consistent, ongoing physical therapy, he may one day walk again. In the meantime, he's perfectly happy to peel rubber.
Are you ready for Iverson to roll into your life? Well, put the top down and get ready to hit the highway that leads to sunny Southern California. Iverson is always up for a road trip, but he is too big to fly. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people's private homes. For the foster families' safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don't set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
